NEET-UG 2022 must be postponed, says lawyer
Earlier On 01 June, According to activist lawyer Anubha Sahai that NEET-UG 2022 must be postponed. Anubha has been pushing different students’ grievances to court, including the recent university test consistency lawsuit, citing the “quite rational arguments” cited by students.
Because earlier counselling sessions had been pushed back, it made sense to move the NEET-UG exam, which was slated for mid-July, forward, according to Sahai.
The previous batch’s counselling got delayed, and in some states it is still going on. So, the July 2022 batch counselling and academic schedule will be pushed ahead anyway, as I don’t think there is infrastructure and academic wherewithal to run both batches concurrently,” said Sahai.
“So if everything is going to get delayed anyway, then why not delay the entrance exam too? This will give students some extra time to prepare,” she added.
Students have been taking to Twitter, demanding postponement of the exam time and again with some saying the least authorities could do was acknowledge their request. One user by the name @Dropper-Neet wrote: “We Will Respect Your Decision But Please Officially Put Some Notice About NEET ..Mental Pressure Is Killing Us From Inside .. please postpone NEET UG sir”. Another user @KK-Neet2 wrote a detailed letter, highlighting the problems if the exam is conducted as scheduled and asked for it to be postponed by at least one month.
This year’s NEET- (UG) – 2022 is set for July 17th, and counselling was done last week in April,” wrote @AIJNSA official. While in certain states, counselling and seat allotment continued long after the NEET (UG)-2022 notification was released.”
“Not only does this harm the aspirants’ mental health, but it also affects their parents’ hopes of seeing their child become a DOCTOR,” @Uzziepixie wrote. Do you care about our mental health? It’s a @DG NTA request.”
Last year, the NEET-UG exam was on 12 September & this year on July 17th! The dropper is not even getting exactly 10 months! Why students will have to suffer if the officials took more time than usual to declare the result, conduct the counseling process? #NTAdeferNEETUG,” a Twitter handle called NEET(UG)-JEE Students Association tweeted
Another Twitter account titled “POSTPONE NEET UG” requested a four-week extension of the NEET-UG 2022 exam date. tweeted, “This is our hand folding request to @DG_NTA, @EduMinOfIndia, @dpradhanbjp, please please listen to the voice of thousands of students we are shouting from last 2 months!!!! #NEETUG2022 #NTAdeferNEETUG.”
