Babar Azam Breaks Virat Kohli’s Another Record – Check Full Details Here

Babar Azam is currently the No 1 ODI and T20I batter in ICC rankings. Meanwhile, England batter Joe Root has held on to his top spot in the Test rankings after a staggering performance in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.

The Pakistan skipper is now eager to claim the top spot in the test cricket. Babar has been in the middle of a purple patch and has consistently scored runs in all formats of the game.

Kohli, on the other hand, has struggled to get going and has not scored a hundred in any format since 2019.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli’s record for longest reign as No. 1 batter.

Babar now owns the record of claiming the top rank in the ICC T20I list for the longest period of time.

His tally now stands 1030 days as of June 29, Wednesday. The previous record was held by Kohli, who had dominated the rankings chart for 1013 days in the last decade.

Virat Kohli, is at the 21st spot having played only 2 T20Is this year. Kohli has struggled to get going and produce big scores across all formats of the game.

The India star hasn’t gone past the 300-run mark in a calendar year in T20Is over the last 3 years.

Meanwhile, the rankings chart, released by the ICC on Wednesday, witnessed little change in T20I cricket with India’s opening batter Ishan Kishan dropping a spot one place to the seventh position in the list of batters.

Ishan is the only Indian in the top 10 across all three disciplines in the T20I Rankings for men. KL Rahul is at the 17th spot while India captain Rohit Sharma, who is recovering from Covid-19 in England, is at the 19th spot.
