Free Coaching For NEET, JEE Launched – Jammu: On Tuesday the Department of Tribal Affairs of Jammu and Kashmir launched a one-of-a-kind initiative to provide coaching for meritorious tribal students preparing for NEET and JEE entrance exams, have officials said. The course fee will be sponsored by the department and applicants who qualify for the national eligibility cum admission test (NEET) and joint entrance exam (JEE) after coaching will also receive a scholarship, they said.

Tribal Affairs Department Secretary Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said 100 tribal students are being selected for NEET (Free Coaching for NEETs, Launched by JEE) coaching in government-run coaching institutes, under two different sub-schemes. The two sub-schemes are "Host-50" for hostellers and "Top-50" for other meritorious tribal students in the first year as part of the program which is implemented through the educational wing of the Tribal Research Institute.

Choudhary said the coaching fee for NEETs and JEEs at selected institutions will be sponsored by the department after attendance verification and evaluation. Selected candidates (Free Coaching for NEET, JEE Launched) for courses such as MBBS, BVSc and AH, BDS, BAMS, BE, BTech and other professional courses will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 70,000-75,000 for a total of approximately Rs 4 lakh, He said.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently said that the administration of Jammu and Kashmir gives the highest priority to the education of students of the tribes and is launching many programs aimed at providing and supporting their quality education. In line with schemes such as the Technology-Enabled Education Scheme, improved dietary fees and tuition fees in hostels, the Tribal Affairs Department has launched a NEET / JEE coaching program with immediate effect, the secretary said.

The Deputy Director (Administration), Tribal Research Institute, Abdul Khabir said that under the "Top-50" sub-program the questions were asked by meritorious tribal students and 50 students with the highest grades, over 80% in the 'class board examination 12, will be selected for coaching.

According to the "Host-50" sub-program, students enrolled in hostels will be selected through a screening test, Khabir said. The department has notified a 50% quota for female students in the hostel category, while 25% of the places are reserved for female students in the "Top-50" program for NEETs, she said, adding that there is no income bar for the coaching program.
