Advises people to avoid venturing out near places vulnerable to flash floods
Srinagar, July 5: The Meteorological Department forecast more rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, while it also issued a warning asking people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near places vulnerable to flash flooding.
A MeT official told the Kashmir News Observer (KNO) news agency that light to moderate rains occurred in many places in J&K this morning and that it was still raining lightly. "Intermittent light to moderate rain is likely to continue in many places at J & K over the next 24-36 hours," he said.
He further stated that there is already a lot of water in local streams, rivers, etc. Due to the melting of glaciers and the addition of rainwater to these waterways, they generate sudden floods and mudslides.
The official advised people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near places vulnerable to flash flooding, etc.
