Mustafa-Ibn-Jameel, 27, completed the handwriting of the entire Quran in seven months on 500-meter parchment paper. The rare achievement entered the Lincoln Book of Records, an organization associated with identifying and promoting talented people on international platforms.
A native of the Gurez Valley in the Bandipora district of northern Kashmir, Mustafa has calligraphed the Holy Quran on parchment paper, which he said has always been a heartfelt wish for him.
On its official website, the Lincoln Book of Records quotes: "Mustafa Ibni Jameel, son of Jameel Ahmad Lone has set a new record by writing the Holy Quran on a 500-meter roll of white paper."
The card is 14.5 inches wide and 500 meters long. This record attempt was held in New Delhi.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir, Mustafa said he started calligraphy work after he couldn't qualify for matriculation as he was weak in math and was always taunted by relatives and other villagers, which made him do something unique.
He said he initially started calligraphy work just to improve his handwriting. He started with a chapter of the Quran and found joy in doing it, after which he decided to finish the handwriting of the entire Quran.
He further stated that the first project he embarked on was completed in 11 months without the guidance of any professional trainer. "This handwritten Quran comprises 450 pages," he said.
Mustafa said that after completing this, he decided to do something new and unique. When he was convinced that he could do something good, he decided to write the Holy Quran on parchment paper using calligraphy and completed it in seven months.
He said he had no parchment paper in Kashmir and decided to move to Delhi where it took him two months to arrange the same. "I worked eighteen hours a day on the project and it took me three months to complete."
Immediately after completing the written work, he decorated this piece of the Quran with thirteen lakh points over the span of a month, he said, adding that the whole project cost two lakh rupees.
The young calligrapher said his work will soon find mention in Asian Book of Records, Indian Book of Records and International Book of Records for which documentation is ongoing. "With God's help it will bring the color of success very soon."
Sharing a message Mustafa said: "My message to all those who struggle and especially young people is that in life you will go through many ups and downs and to improve your chances on the road to success, first of all you have to work hard, own the drive, hunger and determination to succeed, as well as maintaining confidence in your abilities, which would allow you to overcome and overcome every obstacle that life throws at you ”.
