Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Sunday pointed out the big mistake Pakistan felt for the 2022 Asia Cup qualifier against India at the Dubai International Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Chasing 148 to win, India were reduced to 89 for four, but all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja played crucial innings as India won by five wickets. The 52-run partnership was India's highest stand after Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma put on 49 runs for the second wicket.

Kohli and Rohit were doing so well that left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz dismissed two consecutive batsmen to bring Pakistan back into the game. Surprisingly, after the 12th over, Babar held off Nawaz till the end and took it again for the final six in the last half of the match. Akram felt that he missed Babar's trick.

"I like this T20 pitch. I like watching bowlers score and take wickets for both sides. It was a good game of cricket that went down to the wire till the end. Babar made mistakes. Nawaz's total should have been in 13 or 14 overs. Too late." can't bowl in the last 3 to 4 overs, especially in T20s like Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya," Akram told Star Sports after the match.

In the end, it can be said that India won the match, but it was very evenly contested. Apart from Nawaz's three wickets, debutant Naseem Shah dismissed two Indian batsmen, including KL Rahul, for a golden duck. But more than the bowling numbers, it was the heart that Naseem and Haris Rauf showed in playing the pain in the hot and humid conditions of Dubai that impressed Akram the most.

"He's a very good bowler, Nawaz. He just plays harder, gets deep edges. Good India. They win the game. Congratulations. But I'm impressed with Pakistan's bowling. Dahani, playing his 3rd or 4th game, Naseem Shah, 20-21 making his debut, Haris Rauf was a regular for Pakistan and tried the heart of every bowler. You can see a bright future for Pakistan when he bowls fast," he said.
