The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the Royal Family tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the Buckingham Palace said that doctors are “concerned” for her health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision.

A car with Princes Edward, Andrew and William was seen arriving at Balmoral Castle on Thursday, 8 September hours after the Buckingham Palace announced that the doctors of Queen Elizabeth II were ‘concerned’ for her health.

“The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, newly appointed UK PM Liz Truss tweeted, saying:

“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
